Winners announcement

We are pleased and proud to present the out of this world invention ideas from the 2021 ideas4ears winners!

We’d like to say a big thanks to everyone for participating, it has been fantastic to receive your creative and imaginative invention ideas.

The contest challenged children aged between 6-12 years old from across the world to create an invention to improve the quality of life for people living with hearing loss. Competition entries came in the form of video presentations, detailed drawings, colourful paintings and even real-life prototypes, all aiming to improve the lives of people with hearing loss.

Overall, 108 children from 28 different countries participated and sent in 86 invention ideas. From these entries the best and brightest children with the top 13 worldwide submissions were chosen to win.

In addition to the level of effort the children made with their entries, the judges considered the personal motivations behind their inventions and how their lives have been touched by hearing loss themselves, or through a family member’s or a friend’s hearing impairment.

Due to the COVID-19 situation worldwide, the ideas4ears contest this year focused on children who are currently doing home-schooling and the parents who are supporting them. The contest proved to be a great opportunity for families to participate in a fun and educational activity together while at home.

For this reason, the grand prize winners will receive a laptop or a tablet to support their homeschooling. There will also be special prize packs sent in the post for some of the children whose efforts really impressed the judges.

For those who sent in an entry but were not one of the lucky winners chosen, we thank you for your efforts and we will be sending out participation certificates to you soon. Again, a big congratulations to all of the young inventors, and especially to our winners!

Whilst celebrating children’s creativity, ideas4ears aimed to engage parents to participate in an interactive activity with their children to improve the whole family’s understanding of the challenges associated with hearing loss and deafness as well as the benefits of treatment.
